Chapter 232
Chapter 232
Ridrian didn’t like how Recaldo just kept on chattering.
He did feel a bit heavy, possibly due to the demonic power. He could only use half of his speed.
‘He’s moving well. I’m stronger, but there’s no point if I can’t hit him. But if I increase my power, it’ll be dangerous.’
Recaldo was correct. Inside Ridrian was half of the demon’s heart. Even though he neutralized it using divine power, he was still human. There was only so much he could take in.
When he used demonic power to its fullest in battles, he almost died several times due to its side effect. Raven shut the entire army up, and quickly called Ravis to neutralize it.
But unlike then, Ridrian was hesitant to use more power. Catching that rat might not be problematic if he increased his speed. But there was no point even if he killed Recaldo, if he couldn’t move due to side effects to find Iona.
He pondered for a moment then looked up. His sense was slightly messed up from the demonic power, but he felt something familiar nearby.
‘Iona’s divine power!’
To use that power in the middle of demons, something must have happened. Ridrian suddenly because crazy anxious.
As he prepared to amplify his strength, an urge to draw closer to that potent force coursed through him. Amidst his concentration, a figure came hurtling towards them, the sound of their voice calling out to Recaldo.
Amid assessing whether this was reinforcement, Ridrian’s demeanor displayed no immediate aggression.
“Recaldo!”
Recaldo glanced at Ridrian to check if he was attacking then asked the black-haired demon.
“Pile, what is it? I thought I told you to keep watch on the sacrifice…”
Ridrian attacked Pile before Recaldo finished.
‘I’ll be able to know Iona’s situation if I catch him.’
Recaldo hurriedly put up a barrier as he was surprised by the attack. He felt the shock on his arm.
‘What force. There is no chance if I face him head-on.’
He turned his head while holding the barrier up and asked Pile, shaking in fear.
“Did something happen to the Saintess?”
“W, well…”
Recaldo’s face turned pale as he heard the report.
“Under my room. That’s the closest to the Edubul! What were you doing letting her fall there!”
***
“W, well she used divine magic so we couldn’t catch her.”
Pile’s excuse turned Ridrian’s face pale this time. If she used her divine magic, the side effect would be causing her pain. He heard that she was kidnapped without any resistance because of that.
“That’s bad. We can’t let her die now. Find her at all cost!”
“Yes sir!”
While Recaldo was giving the order, Ridrian turned towards the place in the mountain where he felt the thickest demon power. Recaldo noticed and quickly called him.
“Did you not just hear what I said? Edubul is a critical place for those who have demonic power. You can melt!”
There was no point in the key falling into Edubul right now. Recaldo had to stop the Emperor from dying in the Edubul at all cost.
But Ridrian’s reaction wasn’t much. His eyes were back to golden colour.
“What about it?”
“Pardon?”
Recaldo was confused.
“There’s no reason for me to not go if Iona’s down there.”
He jumped instantly off the boulder right after. Recaldo turned pale as he saw that.
“Damn it, Pile! We’re going down as well!”
Pile looked hesitant at Recaldo’s sudden order.
“B, but Recaldo, down there is…”
“It’s not too dangerous if you don’t use your power. You know that.”
“B, but still.”
“If the key and the sacrifice is hurt, then world will end, let alone door being fine. We can’t do anything…”
Recaldo stopped for a moment. Pile called him curiously.
“Recaldo?”
He looked like he was considering something then shook his head.
“No, nothing. Let’s hurry.”
“Yes!”
The two demons started to climb down as well.

On the other hand, Eris was carrying Iona and climbing up the cliff.
‘Thank god we landed on a tree.’
Right now, the cliff barely had any trees, but thankfully, they landed on a tree full of leaves. They had some scratches, but not too big of wounds.
Due to the demonic power, there was a bluish cloud in the middle of the cliff, making it harder to look up.
“Ugh.”
Iona moaned a little. Eris flinched and carefully fixed the way she was carrying Iona.
‘I need to find a place to lay her. She bled too much.’
Eris remembered the sensation of wet clothes and shivered a little.
‘I must hurry.’
It got dark so it was hard to see, but as she carefully walked around, she could find shelter from the rain. It seemed like no animals or demons lived here as it wasn’t that deep.
Eris took off Iona’s cape and laid her on top of it, then put her cape on top of Iona. She hurriedly tried to stop the bleeding, but it continued coming from her back. The cape quickly turned black.
Eris bit her lips and put her hand on Iona’s forehead. She was cold.
‘Her temperature is way down.’
Eris pulled off the necklace. It was the only holy crystal other than the one on her sword. It wasn’t Theres’s power in the crystal so she could use it on Iona without any side effects. The one from the blade was from Theres group so it couldn’t be used.
But she couldn’t use the necklace right away. Eris looked down at the crystal and brushed it.
‘If I use the power from this necklace then…’
If she did, then the result would be the same. If she failed this time again, everything will be in a loop. Nobody, including her, will remember what happened and the cycle will continue like a puppet show.
‘Then I’ll forget who even gave me this necklace.’
Eris bit her lips while hesitating. It was that moment. Iona’s arm fell on the floor.
