Chapter 217
Chapter 217
‘They’re all coming here?’
It seemed like it was too much for Adman to handle five knights.
“Hm, annoying pests are here.”
When I thought I heard Piett’s complaint, Ravis shouted a scream.
“Sir Vanmon!”
Ravis pushed Adman and fell on the ground himself as well. When I turned, Piett was waving his hand. When I was wondering what he was doing, I heard splashes and the plaza was full of puddle. I could see thick liquid flowing through the stones.
“Ugh!”
I covered my mouth at such a cruel scene. People of Lorkdie were sliced into pieces like dolls and were rolling on the floor.
‘That was his way of attacking?’
If Ravis didn’t recognize it, Adman also would’ve met the same fate.
“It’s finally quiet.”
I felt a shiver at his reaction. He was indeed a demon. I knew how he approached Eris slyly and smiling in the book, which made it worse for me.
“… Marquis Labor Piett.”
As Ravis call him by full name, Piett shrugged.
“That’s not my real name. To call me that even though you know what I am, you’re very rude.”
I was annoyed that he was still mentioning manners. But I also understood him. Piett is the family name of the Marquis that he latched onto. That meant Piett has a name as a demon. That moment, a word crossed my mind.
“… Recaldo.”
Piett’s eyes narrowed.
“Ha, indeed, you are the daughter of Goddess. Did Theres teach you?”
As Piett’s words echoed in my mind, I realized that it was a word he had murmured while immersed in the book, particularly after growing close to Eris. At the time, he quickly dismissed it, urging her not to worry. Caught up in the unfolding events, I had also let it slip from my attention. Little did I know that it held such significance—it was his name.
As the revelation dawned upon me, the gaze of everyone present fixated on me.
Their puzzled expressions silently questioned how I had come to know this vital piece of information. “She knows everything.”
‘I’m sorry for using you only when I need you, dear Theres.’
I apologized to Theres inside. I even tried to be as polite as possible. But it was that moment. I felt my mind blanking, and my eyes become hazy. Everything became white.
“Iona!”
As I was stumbling, Ravis’s shout felt far away. What’s happening?
I heard Theres’s voice as I felt my mind straying away. As I heard it around twice, I realized that this was Theres’s voice.
[Good thing that I’m not late. A song…]
I could feel the voice becoming further away again.
‘Pardon? A song?’
As I was about to ask, I came back to my senses right away. The moment it did, I could see Piett smiling slyly.
“I can’t miss this chance. I’ll complete you here.”
He lifted his hand again. I froze as I remembered the Lorkdie people that were cut into pieces.
“Saintess!”
“Iona!”
I could hear people screaming. I needed to run but I couldn’t move. Piett’s hand waved in the air like a slow motion.
‘It’s done!’
Then I saw a shadow that stepped in front of me.
I fell on the ground as I felt a huge weight on me. I lost my mind for a moment due to the shock of hitting the ground.
“Ugh! What just…”
As I stood up while feeling my arm, I froze.
“… Ravis?”
The weight I just felt was Ravis. I saw blood slowly starting to spread around him.
“W, wait. No.”
He already collapsed in on top of me. Blood was spreading fast through his white priest robe. It was a vital wound even by the glance. I could see bones where the three scratches were shown, and the puddle of his blood was already on the floor.
My mind went blank. I thought I had gotten used to this sight after fixing a few heavily wounded patients in Lucretia, but when it was someone close to you, your brain just shut down.
“Saintess!”
Dylan’s shout got my mind back. When I turned to him, Dylan was already shielding us. He didn’t even look my way as he shouted.
“Have you forgotten? You can fix him! Now!”
“Ah!”
He was right. I have divine power, and I can save him.
“I’ll help!”
Adman also got to his feet and put Ravis in a comfortable position. I forced my hardened body and put my hands on Ravis’s back.
‘Please, please, please!’
I could only think of one thing. I bit my lips as I felt warmth that wrapped around my hands. Soon the golden light power flowed through my hands and started to flow through Ravis’s wound.
‘More, I need more!’
The light in my hands started to become stronger. I pushed my divine power for a while. Ravis finally opened his eyes.
“Ravis!”
I was happy that he became conscious again, but it was only for a moment. He smiled at me while looking exhausted. He looked relieved.
“You are…”
“W, wait! Don’t talk! I need to heal you!”
He pulled my hand like he couldn’t hear me. My heart dropped as I couldn’t feel his strength.
“I don’t… I want…”
I could barely hear what he was trying to say. I kept wiping my eyes with my sleeves and gritting my teeth.
“Just wait for a moment. I’ll heal you for sure!”
“Hm, what a great situation. Shall I spice it up a little more?”
Piett was chatting happily. I became furious as he was so cheerful.
“Weren’t you curious why there weren’t any demons?”
I instinctively knew what Piett was about to do. I saw his fingers going into his mouth.
Piett’s whistling rang through the entire town. After a moment of silence, we could hear the cries of the demons all around us.
“I didn’t even break a sweat demonizing this small town that didn’t even have a holy sphere. It was too easy.”
Piett’s shrugged his shoulders.
“Demons are basically beasts left with instinct and no intelligence left, but they’re used very handily times like this.”
