Chapter 230
Chapter 230
In an instant, high-class demons, taking the shape of humans, emerged from the barrier, pouring out in large numbers. There had to be tens of them, and their presence caused death and destruction to everything they touched.
Frowning at the devastation and the demons’ eerie screams, Ridrian couldn’t simply ignore the threat they posed. However, he also recognized a weakness in their numbers – their strength lay in their sheer quantity.
“Digging your own grave,” Ridrian muttered under his breath, a steely resolve taking over. He knew he had to act quickly and strategically to confront this deadly onslaught.
Without hesitation, Ridrian reached for the bag he had put aside earlier. He retrieved a whole bunch of holy water from the group’s supplies, knowing it would be effective against the demonic entities.
Swiftly, he moved under a tree with an abundance of leaves.
“I hear acidic rain existed where Iona used to live.”
He smiled.
“To think that I’d be the one creating that.”
It wasn’t acidic rain, but holy water. Ridrian aimed at the holy water bottle in the air and created magical arrows. He wasn’t as used to Ryuga, who could use magic without incantation, but his speed was much faster.
“Arrows of fire, shoot.”
The black arrows in the air started to hit all the holy water bottles in the air. It started to pour down like rain. None of it touched Ridrian.
Even though they were high-class demons, it seemed like they couldn’t handle all the holy water. It didn’t turn them immediately into ashes like Iona’s divine magic, but demons were screaming and started to move slowly.
Some of the weaker ones just lay on the ground.
“It’s so easy to slash anything that’s not moving.”
He lazily mumbled and started to swing his swords. All the demons started to turn into ashes.
“N, no! The demons Recaldo gave me!”
Ryuga’s face turned pale as he didn’t seem to expect all the demons to die so easily.
Ridrian killed the rest of the demons and came to Ryuga, who looked up while screaming.
“You’re just a key that’s going to die!”
“It’s so annoying about this key you’re speaking of. If you have no intention of explaining, just die.”
Ridrian lifted his sword up high. Ryuga’s face showed fear for the first time. The black sword started to descend.
“Ugh!”
There was the sound of a huge clash.
“My, my, you’re still too rash, Your Majesty.”
It was a short dagger that blocked his attack.
“… Marquis Piett.”
Ridrian’s face turned as the demon he expected showed up. Another obstacle towards meeting Iona. His patience was running out.
***
“Eris!”
I called out as I saw her blocking the blue-haired child’s attacks.
Eris’s skill was much more improvised since her duel with Dylan. But a demon’s physique was just much more superior than a human’s.
As Eris swung her sword full of divine power, there was a wound on the blue-haired child. The child jumped back.
“Ouch! It hurts!”
“Lyn, are you ok? Does it hurt?”
As the red-haired child came to his whining brother.
“Lan, that gross sword, it hurts.”
“Bad sword! I’ll destroy it.” She seemed upset that her twin got hurt. Thick demon power started to flow out of her.
“I’m going to destroy that weird thing.”
But Eris scoffed.
“No, I’ll get rid of you before that, darn demons.”
Eris’s words got tougher as she was fighting. Her kind words were gone.
“What about us? We’re not bad! They said it was Theres that was bad!”
“If it weren’t for you, this world wouldn’t end. Ridrian nor Iona wouldn’t die, and I wouldn’t return. So, you guys are bad.”
Eris mumbled out of spite and lowered her stance. It looked like she was really going to kill the demon children.
‘What should I do? If I interrupt, it might be disadvantageous for Eris…’
“Hey.”
Someone grabbed my shoulder.
“That’s enough.”
I didn’t realize that two adult demons had approached us while Eris and the children battled.
“Iona!”
Eris looked startled, and she stood up straight. I apologized.
“Eris, I’m sorry.”
A black-haired muscular demon put a dagger against my neck. As I felt a chill on my throat, I froze.
“Iona!”
Eris’s face turned pale.
‘To be caught like this!’
I bit my lips. We didn’t even make it to the exit to the cave! Ridrian is just out there!
As I saw the gray-haired demon approaching the children, the black-haired demon threatened relaxingly.
“Go back to the storage. Then we won’t do any harm,”
The red-haired child screamed.
“That red hair hurt Lyn! Don’t let her go!”
“Lan, they’re humans brought by Recaldo. They’re not someone you can do whatever with.”
“But Lyn is hurt!”
The red-haired child dodged the grey-haired demon and flew at Eris.
“I won’t forgive!”
“Eris!”
And before I could realize it, the demon child thrust a dagger at Eris. Eris’s eyes widened.
At that moment, the black-haired demon’s arms became loose in surprise.
‘Now!’
What was I thinking? I didn’t care about the dagger that was being held against my throat, ran to Eris and covered her. I felt something burning at my back, but my attention was on Eris’s widening eyes.
When I thought I was becoming drowsy, I saw a window size of a hand behind Eris. It looked like the sky outside.
