Chapter 220
Chapter 220
Something cold fell on my forehead.
‘It’s cold.’
I felt like I was floating in the air.
I opened my eyes blankly. Then I saw a black ceiling with many dots.
‘Stones sparkles?’
It was a stone ceiling like I was in a cave. There were droplets here and there and that seemed to be what hit me.
“Ah! She’s awake!”
“Oh! She is!”
Suddenly there were the faces of two children, one in blue hair and one in red. They seemed to be in their tweens but it felt odd. The kids looked at each other, giggled, and got off of me.
“Ricky told us to tell him!”
“Let’s tell Ricky!”
They kept giggling, held hands, and then scurried away. I was sitting there watching them, then I heard a familiar voice.
“Iona, are you awake?”
“.. Eris?’
There was Eris as I turned my head. Her eyes were red from tears. It was like her hair color smeared her eyes.
“Why the face?”
“You fainted for two days. How can I not worry?”
Two days. It seemed like I was sleeping for longer than I thought. I looked apologetic as I grabbed her hand.
“I’m ok. Looks like the toxic part is almost gone.”
I waved my arms to show her that I’m ok. She smiled quietly as if nothing could be done.
Thinking about it, all the furniture in this room was normal but the wall and the ceiling was all stone. As I was looking around in awe, Eris asked.
“Do you always faint when you use that power?”
“No, I think it’s only when I use divine magic. I just use pure divinity to heal nothing happens.”
“I was surprised as I heard random singing in the middle of the right, then I saw the ‘Goddess’s blessing’ being summoned. I almost fainted.”
“Goddess’s blessing?”
“People call the pillar of light that.”
I only used divine magic and they call it ‘Goddess’s blessing.’ My cheeks flared just thinking about it.
‘B, but it’s good that I learned how to use divine magic.’
To think that it was singing that would lead me to it. Anyways Ravis seemed like he was completely healed from the pillar of light so that was good. That was worth the embarrassing name.
While I was swimming in embarrassment, Eris tied my air for me.
“By the way, where are we?”
Eris’s hand stopped at my question. At that moment, I felt something was up.
“It’s….”
“It’s?”
As I asked Eris again, she didn’t look pleased.
“It’s demons’ cave.”
***
“Demons’ cave?”
I felt shivers.
‘Then this place is full of demons? Then those children too?’
“They are also demons.”
“Oh my God.”
I was right. To think I’d be at a place where it’s not even mentioned in the novel. I held my forehead.
‘This is crazy. If I don’t go back quickly, Rian will…’
My plan was to clean Lorkdie in three days and go back. But if I was sleeping for two days, then he’d already at Vanmon.
“I’m really sorry. To think you’d get involved because of me.”
“Pardon?”
When I looked up in surprise, Eris was covering her face with her hands.
“What are you talking about? You were the one who got involved because of me, Eris. Huh? But why were you also dragged here?”
Something was up. Thinking about it now, everything must be different from the original novel so Eris wouldn’t be involved with demons that much. But why did Piett bring her here? To use her as a hostage?
“Are you talking about this lying woman?”
I remember what Piett said at Lorkdie that day. Why did he know Eris? Why was he calling her a liar?
Eris looked up at me. She looked like she was in a confession.
“Everything is because of me.”
“Eris?”
I felt something in the air.
“Hm, looks like the liar finally wants to speak the truth.”
I heard Piett’s voice. When I turned, I saw him in a white robe closing the door. White robe in a dark cave. He was certainly an odd demon.
“Piett, no Recaldo.”
His purple eyes curved in happiness as I called him that.
“You are one sleepyhead, Iona. Well, I know that beautiful people sleep a lot. I waited two days.”
“You kidnapped me?”
“You are so mischievous, asking something so obvious. Well, I wasn’t planning on kidnapping her, but she grabbed my clothes when I was activating the teleport magic so she came with us. Thanks to that I used quite a bit of my demon power.”
I stared at Recaldo’s arm. I saw his arm getting a huge wound from the pillar of light.
He seemed to have noticed my stare as he uncovered his arm and showed me his arm.
“Ah, my arm is all better now. It wasn’t cut and it was just burnt so I recovered quickly. Were you worried?”
I was flabbergasted at the question.
“Stop speaking nonsense. Why did you kidnap me? Why are you calling Eris a liar?”
Recaldo rubbed his chin as I asked and he looked like he was pondering for a bit. Then he looked at Eris.
“Don’t you think you should tell her yourself? Eris Cia Deron.”
Eris’s shoulders flinched as he suggested. But she dropped her head as it didn’t seem easy. I couldn’t see her face as her hair covered it.
“Well, it wouldn’t be easy for her to say.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m telling you that it wasn’t just the chestnut hair crusader who sold you.”
“What?”
I asked in surprise, but he didn’t say anything further. He smiled instead and started walking towards the door.
“There’s only about five days left until the moons overlap. Please stay quiet. Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable if you lose your ankle trying to run away?”
He gave a scary warning and flinched before he closed the door.
“Ah, your meal will be delivered by those children. You like eating right? I hope you enjoy it.”
I impulsively hurled my pillow across the room. “Does he honestly expect me to have an appetite in the midst of this turmoil?” I muttered angrily. Frustration twisted within me, directed towards the enigmatic figure who had spoken. “Damn that demon!” I seethed.
There was something strange in his words…
“Huh? Isn’t it a few weeks before the moons overlap?”
I thought the moons overlap before winter. In the original novel and in real life, it usually overlapped in October. Eris solved my curiosity.
“The time of overlap becomes faster or slower every few years. It’s faster this year.”
“What are you…”
What kind of logic was this? It just changes so randomly. Like someone is controlling the moons? I shook my head.
But Eris looked as serious as she could be.
“So His Majesty cannot come ever.”
“Huh? Why?”
“If he doesn’t come, then we’ll be safe.”
