Chapter 218
Chapter 218
“Demons…”
Adman looked around and mumbled. I was also surprised to the point where I forgot to heal Ravis for a moment.
Dylan mumbled.
“To think that there were this many.”
It seemed like it was way more than the number we saw in the clock tower. Hundreds of demons were crowding towards us. They were slow but they trapped us.
“We’re in danger.”
Dylan increased his divine power and came a little closer to us.
“How is Brother Ravis?”
He asked.
“He stopped bleeding but he’s too cold. We need to get him somewhere warm fast.”
I tried to remember what Ravis taught me. Adman shouted.
“There is a doctor near us. I’ll lead you!”
“Please.”
“Sir Vanmon, I’ll lift Brother Ravis, please take Young Lady Deron.”
Adman nodded at his order. He took Ravis and Adman put Eris on his back. I clenched my teeth as I saw blood streaming down Ravis’s fingers.
“Oh my, are you running away?”
Piett’s ridicule hit my ears.
‘It’s all my fault. If only I didn’t suggest coming here.’
Eris woke up that moment. She moaned a little and opened her eyes.
“Eris! Are you ok?”
“Iona?”
Eris seemed to have recognized me as she quickly got up.
“Why are you here!”
“Pardon?”
“Dylan and Ravis too. What about His Majesty?’
“H-he’s on a campaign.”
“You came here without him!” Eris raised her voice in either anger or surprise. Dylan grabbed Eris’s shoulder at that moment.
“Let’s talk about that later.”
Eris seemed to have calmed down a little.
“… Sir Fortis.”
“We need to get out of here first. Can you fight?”
Eris then realized that they were surrounded by demons.
“I can.”
Eris quickly drew her sword and poured holy water on it. Dylan nodded.
“Show me your aspiration of protecting the saintess.”
“Of course.”
Thanks to Eris waking up, Adman and I decided to take Ravis and the other two will open the way. For some reason, Piett was very relaxed even though we were planning on running away.
“You look like you’re ready.”
He got up to the roof of a tall building nearby. It looked like he used magic.
“I’ll enjoy it a little.”
Piett looked down from the roof and flicked his finger as he smiled. The demons all screamed at the same time.
We flinched for a moment, but there wasn’t a moment to lose. We needed to get Ravis to somewhere warm. We all started to run towards the south gate.
Dylan and Eris cut through the demons. I wasn’t skilled but I tried my best to spread my divine power as shield. I poured holy water if necessary. But there were so many that I could only make it so that they wouldn’t come close.
‘This isn’t enough. We need divine magic!’
We needed purifying magic that Ravis used. This wasn’t enough. It was ok for now, but we will become exhausted and that’ll be the end.
I bit my lips anxiously. The holy water was almost out.
“Over there!”
As we turned to corner a few times, Adman pointed at the brick house. The half-broken sign showed that it was a clinic.
Eris suddenly stopped on her feet.
“Darn!”
The huge demon we saw from the clock tower was blocking the way. A few small demons around it also blocked our way.
“Get away!”
Dylan exploded his divine power.
Demons screamed in pain.
Eris also put more holy water on her sword.
“Annoying things. They’re more annoying than the ones at the Deron estate!”
Eris swung her sword once again. You could tell that she was coming to her breaking point.
‘She only woke up a moment ago.’
“Uh…”
That moment, Ravis moaned from Adman’s back. His face was turning black. My mind was going blank.
“Ravis!”
I bit my finger.
‘What can I do! It’ll be too late! I need to…’
[Sing]
I remember what Theres said a moment ago.
‘Sing! Sing!’
My mind was becoming loud. It was the same voice that filled my head when I was kidnapped.
‘What song are you…’
I stopped at that moment. And then I instinctively knew that that was the ‘manual.’
‘Normally you would use the spell that was written in divine language, but why…’
There was no time to think. I needed to activate ‘divine magic’ now. If I fail, we all die.
I clenched my fist and took a deep breath.
It was out of the bloom, but I started singing the most divine song that I knew. I worshipped and praised Theres and thanked the beauty of this world.
The pure melody of the song rang through the night sky through the sound of Dylan and Eris fighting and demons screaming.
“Iona?”
Eris called me in surprise, but I didn’t stop.
‘Louder and clearer!’
I pulled my divine power and put it in the song. My vocal became divine power and started to spread throughout the Lorkdie estate.
“Ah!”
When I thought Dylan was looking at me, the glory of Goddess showed itself in the middle of the estate.
Strong light that almost blinded us filled the air and went through the earth. It was the pillar of light!
I only felt the warmth in the middle of it. There was no drastic change no matter what I did. Just the blinding shiny golden light filled the surrounding.
‘Please get rid of the demons! Save Ravis!’
As if it heard my wish, the pillar of light increased its density. How long has it been since? The pillar disappeared. But like I heard before, the light particles that showed divinity were floating in the air.
The once bustling plaza now lay empty, except for the swirling, ashen remnants of the defeated demons. The air was heavy with an eerie silence, broken only by the astonished gazes of those around me.
Among them, Ravis stood unexpectedly on his own two feet, his eyes fixed upon me, a mix of surprise and curiosity etched on his face.
“Iona…”
Then I heard a thump. There was Piett who fell on the ground, looking like he was in pain as he held his chest. His arm was completely black like it was burnt.
“Ugh. I expected it but it was still a lot. But this should be enough.”
“What are you… Ugh!”
I felt my body starting to freeze like I was struck by lightning. It was a feeling I felt somewhere before. The muscle cramps took over me.
“No! The aftermath of divine power…!”
“No!”
“Saintess!”
“Iona!”
“Young Lady Deron…!”
I could send the surroundings getting rowdy. What was happening? I lost consciousness as I heard people screaming as my vision turned dark.
