Chapter 215
Chapter 215
Adman seemed to have received the order before as he shouted at us while throwing himself at the space that Dylan has created. Ravis and I followed him with all our might.
“W, what are you doing! Get them!”
The Lorkdie lord was enraged as we flew down the stairs. I felt like I was going to twist my ankle, but I clenched my teeth and ran out of the tower.
As we came out of the castle, something horrible happened. The demons have taken over the town. Ravis put up a barrier and I threw divine power to keep distance from the demons.
‘Dylan hasn’t come down yet!’
“Sir Dylan!’
As I called, Dylan jumped out of the top of the tower. I was surprised as such unexpected action then I saw Dylan landing safely using divine magic.
The moment he landed, he grabbed my hand and started running again.
“Hurry!”
“Yes!”
The sound of demons and knights fighting could be heard. Those knights could be skilled but there was no way for them to beat demons without divine power or holy water. Dylan seemed to be bothered as he looking at me and Ravis, then hid us in the remote corner.
“I can’t help it. I have to do something.”
“Are you thinking of saving them?”
As Dylan looked like he was going to save the the Lorkdie knights, Ravis grabbed his wrist. Dylan seemed to be hesitant, but then looked determined.
“We can’t leave them like that.”
“What about protecting the saintess? You’re not just a crusader right now, but the saintess’s guard.”
“…”
Dylan also looked to be troubled. There was an instance where he left me alone and I was kidnapped.
That moment, I could smell the stench getting stronger. I stumbled.
“Iona!”
“… It’s ok. I was just dizzy from the smell.”
“You’ve become sensitive to the demon power. Drink holy water. We must do something.”
Ravis supported me and I took a sip of holy water. I felt like I was just being a burden. That moment, Adman ponder for a moment.
“I’ll be your stunt double.”
“Pardon?’
“Right now you’re all wearing the same cape besides me. I’ll wear your cape instead and run away. Then they will chase me.”
“To move without Sir Dylan in a place full of demons! That’s too dangerous.”
“I’m sure I can handle them for a bit. I also have holy water.”
I bit my lips at Adman’s suggestion.
‘If only I could use divine magic!’
I thought that Piett didn’t have any intention of killing me, and that I thought because my divine power was as strong as the Pope’s so I came here without any plan. I regretted it.
“Don’t look like that. If you didn’t come here, my soldiers and I would’ve starved to death in the inn. You’re our savior.”
“T, that’s…”
I couldn’t look at Adman’s face. I felt like a dishonest adult who was lying to an innocent child.
There was another howling. We all looked in that direction at the same time. I realized it wasn’t time for argument.
“Please be careful.”
I hesitantly gave him my cape. He took his off and wore mine.
“It’s good that Brother Dylan’s height is similar to mine. This should be enough.”
Dylan looked like he was unimpressed at Ravis’s joke, but he put on the hood. Then Adman really looked like they were the saintess’s group.
“Here.”
I took a few bottles of holy water and gave it to Adman and Ravis. Adman’s eyes widened as he was given a few bottles that were worth tens of silver coins.
“I already have some.”
“Don’t spare any.”
I clenched my teeth.
I heard the voice of the Lorkdie lord and the knights, who somehow evaded the demons.
“Find them now! We need that girl! Find her at all costs!”
“Yes sir!”
There was desperation in their voices. They also seemed to be thinking that the famous saintess could resolve the situation.
“Let’s move.”
We looked at each other and nodded. Ravis grabbed my hand and let it go. He looked very worried.
“Let’s meet at the south of downtown after we lose them.”
“Ok.”
Since we knew where that was, we would be able to go there without Adman.
“Saintess.”
I nodded as Dylan rushed me and we hid ourselves between the buildings. Dylan stood in front of me so I couldn’t see what was going on.
“There they are! Chase them!”
“Be careful!”
“Ah! M, my arm!”
Everything I heard was a scream, I shivered.
“Are you afraid?”
“… Yes I am.”
I’m not a saintess. Screw noble cause. I just wanted to be by Ridrian’s side, so I was just making an excuse with the divine power I randomly got.
“You don’t have to worry. Everything will happen according to Theres’s will.”
“I really hope so.”
“If you don’t believe in Theres, then who would?”
I also thought of that. Just what was the Goddess thinking giving me this power, and not the ability to use the divine magic, and why she would leave the world to be invaded by demons. I just couldn’t tell what she was thinking.
“Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe. I won’t make the same mistake twice.”
“I was safe in the end. You don’t have to blame yourself so much.”
“… That was because of His Majesty was there. If he was a bit too late…”
He didn’t finish as he seemed to have thought it was horrible. Then he looked out and turned to his quiet self again.
“We should move too.”
It seemed like everything had settled as it got quite. I nodded and quietly followed Dylan. I shivered as the town was basically a ghost town.
“It’s the south of downtown over there.”
The clock tower was in the centre of the city, so the south of downtown wasn’t that far. It was when we turned the corner to enter the south part. I heard a familiar voice.
“Stay right where you are.”
I gasped. It was Piett with a white raven mask and Eris who was being held by her throat in the air, dying.
