Chapter 208
Chapter 208
‘He acts like a clown, but he seemed to love his wife very much. So much so that he was ok with being held hostage by Rian for the rest of his life.’
I was looking at Chancellor Ivan with different eyes. But he was pacing around then quickly grabbed my shoulders.
“W, what can I help you?”
“Pardon?”
“I will never become an Emperor. So please tell me. How can I help you to save His Majesty?”
I could sense madness in Chancellor Ivan’s eyes. I, I should be happy that I’m getting help right?
“Let me…”
“Let you?”
“Let me borrow some carriages and soldiers.”
“Also some supplies and holy water.”
“I’ll fill a carriage up.”
“… Thank you.”
I felt a little bewildered at his change in stance.
“Miss Iona.”
“Yes.”
Ravis called me.
“I’m the only one who’s a high priest here. Others still require training as low priest. Unfortunately, they might get hurt by the demon power if things don’t go well.”
“The group sent that kind of lowly priests here?”
Chancellor Ivan seemed to be back in his mind as he seemed to become argumentative.
“Even with their power, most wounds can be healed. Just that resistance against magic power is a completely different story.”
I nodded as I was listening.
“Then nothing can be done. We can’t bring them somewhere so dangerous.”
I was thinking about sending back the soldiers when we arrived at Lorkdie Estate anyway. I heard Raven whispering at that moment.
“Magic power…. Are we dealing with demons?”
Raven took a few clues and quickly unraveled the situation.
“There was a rumour of Marquis Piett secretly supporting the Russen family during investigation on the Russen family. There wasn’t any evidence though.”
He looked directly at me and asked.
“Lavor Piett, is he a demon?”
‘As expected, Raven would figure everything out just from the word magic power.’
“It’s a secret to His Majesty for now.”
“Why?”
“He’s a demon that’s good at strategizing. He put a spy in the palace and observed His Majesty and I for a very long time. If we told His Majesty, he wouldn’t even think for a second before going after him.”
“I see. A spy….”
Raven took a step back looking a bit taken back. It seemed like he was trying to figure out the situation with the world spy.
That moment, Dylan, who was listening quietly, tried to persuade me again.
“It’s too dangerous, saintess.”
“Sir Dylan.”
“To go to an estate where demons have a set up. I don’t like him much, but His Majesty would’ve never sent you if he was here.”
“Of course. So can’t you come with me this time instead?”
I was still a bit uncomfortable with him, but his skill was top class. He was the only one who could step in front of Ridrian on this continent.
“Of course, if you decide to go, I will follow you to hell.”
“I will also come.”
Ravis added.
“How can I tell His Majesty that only you and Brother Dylan went?”
As he was complaining slightly, I remembered Ridrian’s complaint yesterday dawn.
“Man’s jealousy can kill.”
Ravis persuaded me with his light tone. I was hoping Ravis would come anyway, so it was good. With Ravis and Dylan, shouldn’t we be able to handle PIett?
I stood up and smiled brightly.
“Then, wish us best.”
***
The Ivant army that travelled inside of Lucretia’s capital through Vanmon’s magic circle was unstoppable.
“Kill all the royals.”
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
Ridrian wiped blood off his sword and ordered. His top soldiers took his word and searched the entire palace.
‘Did a lot to this place. They’re just like the dethroned king.’
He already killed twenty royals. Ridrian for some reason wasn’t feeling so fresh.
‘Something is different than before. What is it?’
He frowned and thought.
“Die, you demon!”
At that moment, a knight who seemed to be quite skilled ran towards Ridrian. He was covered in blood from all the soldiers he slayed.
“How annoying,”
Ridrian, who was interrupted from his train of thought, waved his Lotuburu without looking. The knight didn’t even notice that the emperor was swinging his sword.
The Kingdom’s best knight was lifted in the air, split into two and there was sound of two lump hitting the ground.
‘I still don’t know.’
But Ridrian went back to his thought and didn’t pay attention to the sound.
Ridrian was searching the palace, looking for the king who wouldn’t show up and felt someone in one room.
‘All the servants probably ran away already.’
He instinctively knew that it was a royal. When he opened the door, it was so shabby that one wouldn’t even think it was in a palace. As Ridrian turned towards where he sensed someone, there was a nanny holding a little girl while shivering.
“P, please spare us…”
The young nanny was trying to save little princess. It was a familiar sight. Ridrian suddenly became sick of this situation.
“Lily also begged. And you didn’t even listen once.”
Ridrian mumbled like it was a habit and lifted Lotuburu. There was no emotion in his eyes.
“N, no!”
The child that moment came out of the nanny’s arms and stood in front of her. As its beautiful blonde hair came down, Ridrian flinched and stopped.
“N, not the nanny! I, I’m the king’s daughter so just kill me!”
“Princess Irina!”
There was scars everywhere on her body, and she was barely ten years old. But her blue eyes were shining while trying to protect an adult a few times bigger than her. That made Ridrian hesitate on killing her.
‘She looks like Iona.’
For some reason, the child with white, blond hair and blue eyes reminded him of Iona.
‘Ah is it that?’
Ridrian finally realized why he wasn’t feeling too keen about this whole situation.
“You can’t kill.”
He remembered what Iona has said.
“I’ll make you happy.”
He remembered what she whispered while giggling.
There was a reason why he found it uncomfortable to swing his sword. It was because he promised Iona that he will let go all his past and go towards the future together.
Ridrian turned around from the child, who was shivering like a baby bird while standing in front of her nanny.
“Follow me.”
The nanny and the child seemed to realize that the sword won’t be killing them, so they hesitated for a moment before following Ridrian.
“Your Majesty.”
As he entered the main hall, Kraman already brought Lucretia’s crown prince. He was so fat that his clothes didn’t seem to fit him too well.
“Big brother?”
