Chapter 118
Freya threw off the expensive dress that she wore and changed into simple clothes.
“Why did you come back so early? Did anything happen?”
“No, your highness is busy, and I’m a little tired.”
Miriam, who was watching the tired Freya, sneaked off.
“Would you like some snacks?”
“Can you bring me some food?” She felt heavy, and she had someone in mind she wanted to see.
“Then rest while you’re getting ready. Miss.”
“Thank you.” Freya, who was left alone, glanced sideways at the bed. She wandered around the bed, which she had been looking at for months, and sat down. It was a fantastic feeling when her body touched the soft bed.
“It’s very different from Archer’s bed.”
It was kind of funny to compare it with the temporary bed in the battlefield barracks.
“There are no chicken bones left over here, and no dried fruits.”
Sitting up and down, the bed fluttered along with her. Freya stared at the wall where Bell hanged the dress earlier.
“I feel like the magic has been lifted.”
Freya thought it was a fairy tale that happened when she danced in a dress like that. and anxiety quickly obscured the overwhelming sensation.
“Shilo, Sophia.” To think of it, there was nothing special about meeting here. She was paid for her title.
“It went through safely today, but something might happen next time.”
She shook her shoulders as she began to bite her nails.
“What if I get caught?” Freya thought to herself.
If she was found out as an orphan and not the Del Mundo Miss De Bua sheep she was pretending to be, she would disappoint His Majesty Lucius and possibly ruin her contract. Frustrated and tired, she got up from her bed and decided to visit Archer.
As she walked with Miriam to Archer’s residence, she saw him chopping wood in a small garden.
“Archer!” she called out, and he stopped and smiled at her.
“What’s all this?” Archer asked as Freya and Miriam arrived, gesturing to the food basket. “How did you know I was hungry? It’s worth raising you on my back,”
Archer joked as he dug into the basket, and Freya felt her worries start to fade away. She was comforted by the sight of her old friend, still the same person despite his success as a great knight.
“Miriam, I’ll be here for a while, please come back later,” Freya said to her companion, and Archer brought out some alcohol to enjoy with their meal. As they ate and drank, Freya shared her concerns with Archer.
“I have something to say,” she said hesitantly.
“What’s that?” Archer asked, and Freya explained that she had run into the director of the orphanage where she had grown up. This could cause problems for her, as she was pretending to be Del Mundo Miss De Bua’s sheep, and if her true identity was revealed, it could jeopardize her contract and disappoint His Majesty, Lucius.
Archer listened attentively and asked,
“Who else knows?”
“Not yet,” Freya replied, feeling a sense of unease. She was worried about what would happen if her secret was discovered and how it would affect her plans to collect enough gold to rescue her sister Lottie.
Archer understood her situation and offered to help her.
As they continued their meal, Freya couldn’t shake off the feeling that her life as a wealthy lady was not much better than when she was living on the streets.
