Chapter 6.1
Woo-jin twisted a pen in between his fingers with a dissatisfied face.
Creating a design is a complex task; if you want it minimal, it’ll look empty, but if you try to maximize the space, it’ll be overwhelming. Such a task required a meticulous eye.
Woo-jin exhaled upon finally reaching a conclusion. This concern was not under his jurisdiction. The design team, not him, should have been in charge because they were the experts in the field. There was no need to be too pessimistic. As the meeting progressed, it brought him closer to his desired outcome.
He decided to divert his thoughts in a positive direction, but another problem immediately planted itself in his mind.
Woo-jin muttered, “They look alike.”
He was often startled whenever he saw the face of the woman he had rescued. She looked so similar to the woman he loved. Naturally, his first love was much prettier than the woman in the hospital—and he is not simply talking about physical looks. His first love had unique energy. Her expression brightened the complexion of her face. Her every movement was graceful, and the sound of her laughter was youthful. Even her eyes shone.
Was it because he was in love with her that everything about her was beautiful?
Woo-jin thought of the woman he met in the early morning. Her skin was cold as ice and looked almost blue. Her cheeks were hollow, and her lips were cracked. There was no warmth from her. She seemed to personify melancholy.
Nevertheless, he was faithful to his words, though there was no need. Was it because of their resemblance? For some reason, he felt like he had to listen to what came out of her mouth.
A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. After three knocks, the secretary entered and bowed her head. “Sir, what would you like for dinner?” she asked.
Woo-jin’s gaze turned to the clock on the desk. It was past six o’clock, and he recalled the schedule he had forgotten.
She needs to be fed.
“I have a previous engagement,” Woo-jin replied. “You can now leave.”
“A previous engagement?” Secretary Lee asked.
Woo-jin’s hand, which was organizing the desk, stopped at the secretary’s words. He looked at her with disapproval. “Is there a problem?”
Secretary Lee quickly bowed her head. “I was flustered for a moment because it was a schedule I didn’t know.”
“It’s a personal affair.”
“I see.”
Secretary Lee no longer commented. If she remembers correctly, no one has had a private meeting with him since she became his secretary. He constantly buried himself under responsibilities, sparing no time for social affairs.
What she did not know was that Woo-jin’s long unrequited love was the root reason why he was able to immerse himself in his work.
The desk, which was difficult to say was disorganized, was swiftly tidied under Woo-jin’s touch. He rose from his seat and walked past his secretary.
“You get off work first.”

He looked around the empty suite with narrowed eyes.
As soon as he arrived at the airport, he headed straight to the hotel because he had received a report about the fire in advance. He had returned from his business trip earlier than planned.
Jae-min, who was standing behind him nervously, swallowed unconsciously and explained the circumstances. “The fire broke out on the 18th floor, and fortunately it seems to have been extinguished before it spread here.”
“Fortunately?”
“He” did not understand what was fortunate. Even if the entire hotel burned down, Hae-gang should be within his reach. But there was no Hae-gang in this place where her traces remained.
Behind him, Jae-min slowly closed his eyes at the palpable pressure.
“Jae-min Jung.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Destroy every trace.”
Jae-min clenched his jaw at the low voice that made him feel as if he was standing on a mine. It would be lovely if his order were that simple, but it wasn’t. Jae-min had to draw out all the courage he had and borrow what he did not have in order to reply.
“But, sir, all of them have already signed a confidentiality agreement.”
“And so?”
His cold gaze turned to Jae-min as he spoke. Jae-min’s hand trembled.
“That’s only necessary when they carefully monitor Hae-gang.” “But they didn’t do their job properly, so make sure they pay the price they deserve.” He stared at Jae-min, emphasizing every word he uttered. “Cut their tongues off.”
At this point, Jae-min had no choice but to nod his head in obedience. Otherwise, the blame would be shifted to him for hiring those incapable guards, and there wouldn’t be a guarantee that the first tongue to be cut off wasn’t his.
