Chapter 2.2
Chapter 2.2
The room reserved under Lee Yeon-gun’s name was filled with uninvited guests.
It was the worst possible scenario, like being caught red-handed while playing around with the girlfriend of a gang boss.
Although the troubles Lee Yeon-gun had caused in the past were not normal, this was beyond crazy.
Goyo bit her lower lip repeatedly as she looked at the bloodstains scattered on the floor.
It was utter chaos.
Goyo’s stomach churned as she watched the gory scene unfold before her. She stifled the urge to vomit and let out a silent scream.
But she couldn’t just stand by as a spectator. It looked like Lee Yeon-gun might die if this continued, so she had to do something. Even if she was just a rabbit jumping into a wolf’s den.
“Whew…”
Goyo took a deep breath and stepped forward. It had been almost 10 minutes since she had entered the entrance.
“Enough.” She had just taken a step when a languid voice called out.
Wondering if it was directed at her, Goyo’s heart sank with a thud. Thump, thump, thump, thump.
Her heart began to pound so hard it felt like it might burst through her skin.
“Stay still, you.”
The gentle voice was entirely out of place in the violent scene, which made it all the more chilling. Goyo unconsciously clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She was terrified that the violence inflicted on Lee Yeon-gun might turn towards her.
“It’s heartbreaking, really.”
Frozen in place, Goyo turned her gaze towards the sound. A man was sitting deeply sunk into the sofa.
The sunlight streaming through the large windows surrounded the man like a halo. The bright sunlight made Goyo’s focus blur momentarily. She didn’t have the time to scrutinize his face in detail, but at a glance, he was incredibly handsome and attractive.
“Didn’t know, huh? Cheaters always have the same excuse. It’s boring, really boring.”
The low, even voice was chilling enough to make her hair stand on end.
‘He wasn’t talking to me.’ Goyo clutched her chest, trying to calm her racing heart, and erased the look of panic from her face. She took slow, deep breaths to steady herself and slowly opened and closed her eyes.
Once she calmed down, she could see the man’s appearance more clearly.
Jet-black eyebrows, sharp eyes, a strong nose and nostrils, and smoothly curved lips. He exuded an aura that clashed with the violent scene.
‘Is he the one? The boss of the gang who caught his lover cheating?’
Goyo tilted her head and scrutinized the man.
Dressed in a perfectly pressed suit, with his long legs crossed, the man wore a languid expression as he held a cigarette between his lips. He had been smoking for some time, as the area around him was filled with smoke. What had seemed like a halo was actually the light dispersing through the cigarette smoke.
“This makes my trip to Cheongdo pointless.”
The man leisurely drew on his cigarette, his eyes coldly fixed on Lee Yeon-gun. His gaze was chilling enough to make one’s heart stop.
He didn’t seem like an ordinary person. He was undoubtedly a dangerously risky man with whom one should never get involved.
Having a man like him as a lover while cheating with Lee Yeon-gun? How many lives does he think he has to do something like that?
For some reason, Goyo felt like he was going to bite his lover in the neck and take out all her guts. But in reality, his lover was lying flat on the ground, trembling with fear and unscathed.
“I’m sorry, please…”
The woman whimpered. As she lifted her head to beg for forgiveness, she found herself gasping for breath under the man’s piercing gaze, and she instinctively recoiled.
“It seems like Ms. Minje doesn’t want to talk to me.”
The man asked lazily.
“Please…” The woman’s face, pale with fear, was filled with terror.
After witnessing her once beloved turning into half a corpse overnight, she now realized how reckless she had been.
The woman lay flat on the ground, raising her hands above her head, and began to plead. But the man’s expression remained unchanged.
“Look here. Conversations, you see, are meant to be face-to-face.”
“P-please spare me.”
“Anyone who sees us might think I’m killing Ms. Min Jei.”
The man muttered, exhaling a sigh as he scattered cigarette smoke into the air.
