Chapter 12.2
Chapter 12.2
The car passed through the main gate and slowly approached the main house. I had been discharged and arrived home. The thought of seeing my husband and mother-in-law made my chest feel tight and prickly.
“Feels good to be home, right?” Housekeeper Ahn said cheerfully, but I didn’t respond.
The thought of leaving this place and returning back to the main house as Namgung Yena was something I wanted to avoid. I had never spent a happy or comfortable day here. I would not let things slide anymore. I was both looking forward to and nervous about what was to come.
The car stopped in front of the main house. My heart calmed a bit as I got out and looked up at the building, feeling a surge of determination.
Let’s begin. With Miss Yena’s body, I was going to destroy this household.
As I entered with Housekeeper Ahn carrying my bag, I was surprised. All the staff were lined up on both sides to welcome me.
“Welcome back, miss.”
At the greeting from Jeongeun, who seemed to represent the staff, I gave a gentle smile.
“Thank you.”
The mother-in-law approached with a graceful smile among the staff. She was wearing a white dress adorned with an expensive necklace and earrings, as usual. It had been only a few days since my sister-in-law passed away.
“Yena, I’m so glad you’ve come back healthy.”
There’s a saying that you can’t spit on a smiling face. Right now, I want to spit on hers.
“Yes, auntie. Thank you.”
My polite response made her chuckle softly.
“Our little Yena has come back to life, and now she’s all polite?”
I forced a smile.
“I have to change. If I want to live diligently for my sister-in-law as well.”
My words said with a smile made her expression waver.
“Is Grandfather in his room?”
“Yes. Go on in.”
I felt a slight satisfaction at her indifferent tone and reluctant expression. Look forward to it, mother-in-law. Things are going to get very tumultuous from now on. I headed to my grandfather’s room. He was in his study.
“Grandfather, I’m here.”
He approached in one step, hugged me, and patted my back.
“Well done. You’ve been through a lot.”
I looked closely at his face. He looked a bit better than the last time I saw him.
“I heard you’ve been eating. That’s good.”
I decided not to tell him about the photos I found on my sister-in-law’s phone. My intuition says it might be related to slush funds, but Grandfather wouldn’t do that. I’ll tell him once I have more solid evidence.
“Are you feeling better now?”
“Yes.”
“That’s a relief. Are your memories still not back?”
As expected, Director Han must have mentioned it. I answered calmly.
“No, not yet…”
“If they find out you have amnesia, it will backfire against you.”
“They won’t find out. I also asked the team that Chief Jeon and sister-in-law were leading to help me.”
“With what?”
“With everything regarding business. I memorized all the connections within the company.”
Only then did Grandfather nod with relief, though he still looked at me with concern.
“You have a lot to go through at a young age. But your determination must not waver. No matter what, I’ll make you the head of the company. Only then will I have the honor of meeting your father when I die.”
His son, who died 20 years ago, still seemed to be a wound in Grandfather’s heart, making me feel bad. To change the mood, I said,
“Grandfather, I’m thinking of starting to exercise.”
“That’s a good idea. Knowing that you’ve recovered makes me feel relieved.”
“Don’t worry anymore, Grandfather.”
“Yes. They said you still need follow-up observations.”
“I will. I’m going to eat well and exercise hard, so don’t worry too much.”
Grandfather took out a document envelope from a cabinet and handed it to me.
“What’s this?” I said.
“Deliver this to your father-in-law. The shares. They’ve been transferred to his name.”
I took out the documents from the envelope and spoke sincerely.
“Thank you, Grandfather.”
“Now that they’re under his name, Muyeol won’t be able to say anything anymore.”
My husband wouldn’t dare go against Grandfather, so only my Mother-in-law would be furious. I can’t wait to see her face when she finds out this has been transferred to my father.
Fanning the flames further, I continued, “Did aunt say anything about bringing someone into the house?”
“What?”
“There’s a woman older brother is having an affair with. I think Aunt wants to bring her here.”
